Former President of Euro Disney, Jay Rasulo is since 2002 the head of all the Disney parks. Especially, we have proven that our parks could attract the greatest number. Since the opening of Hong Kong in September, we are present in five geographic areas (Editor's Note: two parks in the United States, the Japan, one in Europe, one in Hong Kong). The interest generated by the Park of Hong Kong has allowed us to confirm what we feel: with the enrichment of China and the development of family tourism, there is in this area a strong growth potential. More that net additional business generated by this park that will allow us to cross a symbolic bar, it is the confirmation that new horizons are open to us.
Has start of Hong Kong Park not been a little difficult
We said at the outset that we attract 5.6 million visitors in the first twelve months and we are in line with this plan. It is a very good start. We will open a new attraction and we will continue to invest. It is still too early to consider an extension, but the infrastructure of the Park has been designed to make it one day able to welcome as our sites more than 10 million visitors per year. One day, we will take the decision to create a second adjoining Park but, by then, there remains much to be done. Walk fast, but do not run!
Will the extension of Hong Kong at the expense of any Park in China
This is not one or the other. The two decisions are independent. We are conducting discussions with Beijing long to extend the global presence of Disney in China. In this framework, we discussed a proposed Park, but it would not rival that of Hong Kong. Given the size of the market, they would be complementary. The United States have well two parks. There will be a day for two sites Disney in China market.
Europe could in this account also allow a second Park
We have no plan for a second European destination for the moment. We are mobilized on the growth of the Paris Park, which is still far short of its potential and our ambitions. It covers less than six hours, a pool of 350 million people. This is a significant reserve in which we have not come to draw. That development now Eastern Europe offers new opportunities.
Is your ambition in cruise for the time being to seduce the American public
We have two ships, the "Magic" and "Wonder", and they are full every time with mainly American or Canadian customers. Although in 2007 the "Magic" navigates for twelve weeks in the Mediterranean, from Barcelona to the Greece, passengers will be still primarily North American. For expand us geographically, we need a new ship, but in the current context of euro expensive it is difficult for a group like us, whose accounts are in dollars, to command of a new ship to the European shipyards, which are the only ones able to manufacture these boats to luxury cruises. We expect the euro to decline a little move command. Today, we have not sufficient capacity for expand us into new markets.
